Overriding the Behavioral Target

Learn how to modify a Behavioral Target in PI Hire using our drag-and-drop function, and make precise adjustments for better outcomes.

Updated over a week ago

This article applies to all Hire users in the PI2 platform.

The drag-and-drop function in PI Hire allows you to override the Job Target for a given role.

Note: Drag-and-drop is intended for rare cases where the added precision is critical for your Job Target.

How to use the drag-and-drop feature

  1. Log in to the PI software.

  2. Select Hire from the top navigation bar.

  3. You will land on the Hiring Center.

  4. Select the job whose target you'd like to modify.

  5. Select "Custom Target" on the left-hand side.

  6. In the Job Target field, select Manually Override.

  7. Use your cursor to “grab” and adjust the target as desired.

As you drag the cursor, the descriptions will change based on the adjustments to the target.

When you drop the target, enable the Save Changes button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Click Save Changes to confirm the new Job Target.

Back in the Job Target field, you will see a note with an asterisk confirming the change you have made (e.g., *This factor has been modified).

An asterisk will also appear next to the corresponding row for the adjusted factor.

How to create your own Job Target

  1. Go to the Hiring Center.

  2. In the left-hand panel, under Create new benchmark, select Create your own.

  3. In the Create your own field, select the characteristics you think are most critical to success for this job.

  4. Select Save and Continue.

Back in the Job Target field, you will see a note with an asterisk confirming the change you have made (e.g., *This factor has been modified*).

An asterisk will also appear next to the corresponding row for the adjusted factor.

FAQs

Can I see how many times a Behavioral Target has been manually adjusted?

No. The system does not track the number of times a Behavioral Target has been adjusted, nor does it track the specific override adjustments.

That said, if a Behavioral Target has been modified, the system will always visually denote which behavioral factor(s) has been modified.

I don't see "Custom Target." What now?

If you don't see "Custom Target" on the left-hand side, it likely means you haven't created your custom target (and thus have nothing to override).

To create your custom target:

  1. Click into the job whose target you'd like to modify.

  2. Select "Create your own" where it says "Create new" on the left-hand side.

  3. Select between 6 and 14 characteristics you feel are most critical to success in the role. (This is also known as the Job Assessment.)

  4. Hit "Save and Continue."

  5. You will land on your custom target.

  6. Scroll down until you see the "Manually Override" button.

  7. Click "Manually Override."

  8. You will now have an opportunity to modify the Behavioral Target.

  9. Click "Save Changes" once satisfied.
