Obi/Fin reconciliation for support questions
Product: Obi
Release type: Enhancement
Tentative release window: Mid August 2026
Who it's for: All Obi users
What it solves: Get answers to support-related questions or issues
We're excited to share that Obi will soon be able to answer basic PI support questions through an integration with our AI-powered support bot, Fin.
Previously, when asking a support-related question to Obi, users would receive a message saying, "Unfortunately, I'm still learning how to help with software support questions." Obi would instead recommend that users start a conversation with Fin to get an answer to their support prompt.
With this update, Obi will now ask Fin that support prompt and surface the response directly, without you needing to leave the Obi interface.
How it works
When asking a support-related question (e.g., "How to do XYZ"), Obi will now say "Providing support guidance" as part of its thinking. This means it is in the process of asking Fin (which specializes in support help) to provide an answer.
Provided Fin has an answer in its knowledge base, Obi will surface relevant "how to" steps to help users get unstuck.
Support responses will also include images to accompany how-to steps, along with citations to relevant support articles (hosted at docs.predictiveindex.com).
Important: Currently, Obi is only able to answer one-and-done support questions. If you encounter a support issue that requires more conversation (e.g., back-and-forth troubleshooting, live support), please request additional support.
How to request additional support
In the event a user needs support help beyond what Obi provides, click the "Ask the support assistant" button located at the bottom of every support answer.
Doing so will automatically open Fin and close Obi. Fin will then recap the initial support answer and allow you to submit follow-up support prompts. Learn more about prompting Fin.
