This article is for client-side IT administrators, technical sponsors, and individual Claude users enabling PI's MCP connector during the current pre-beta phase.
Learn how to enable the Predictive Index MCP connector, and get PI-powered behavioral intelligence right in Claude.
Tip: Before you start, make sure you've met the PI-specific prerequisites for enabling the MCP.
Note: The Predictive Index MCP is currently in pre-beta. We plan to make regular changes and updates on the road to its full release.
Who can add the connector to Claude?
Free, Pro, and Max: You add the connector yourself. Free plans allow 1 custom connector.
Team and Enterprise: Only an Owner or Primary Owner can add the connector for your organization. Members then connect their own PI accounts. If you don't see Organization settings, you aren't an Owner.
Claude connects to PI from Anthropic’s cloud, not from your device. For details, see The Predictive Index MCP: Security, privacy, and IT reference.
Note: The steps below are for claude.ai on the web. Claude Desktop uses the same settings.

Note: Claude is rolling out a new 2-step "Add custom connector" dialog. If yours shows "Name," "URL," and "Advanced settings" on one screen, enter the name and URL and leave "Advanced settings" blank.
How to connect PI to Claude: Free, Pro, and Max
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors. Click "+ Add," then "Add custom connector."
Enter the Name and MCP server URL from the What you'll need table above.
Choose the Authentication and OAuth client options from the same table.
Click "Add."
Complete the steps in Connecting your account below.
Note: Free plans only allow 1 custom connector. If you've already added another one, remove it first.
How to connect PI to Claude: Team and Enterprise
Important: You must be an Owner or Primary Owner in Claude to perform these steps.
Sign in as an Owner and open Organization settings (or Admin settings) → Connectors.
Click "Add," then "Custom." (If Claude asks for a connector type, choose "Web.")
Enter the Name and MCP server URL from the What you'll need table above.
Choose the Authentication and OAuth client options from the same table.
Click "Add."
Predictive Index will appear in the connector list. Open it and set the org-wide permission for each tool:
Always allow (recommended): Claude uses the tool without asking.
Needs approval: The user confirms each call.
Ask members to complete Connecting your account below.
Enterprise organizations can limit the connector to specific groups with a custom role, under Groups and Roles in your Organization settings. Changes can take several minutes, and you may need to refresh the page.
Note: You can edit the connector's name or URL later from its "⋯" menu. Its authentication settings can't be changed. To change those, remove the connector and add it again; members will also need to reconnect.
Connecting your account (each user)
Go to Customize → Connectors and find Predictive Index, labeled "Custom." If you don't see it, your Owner hasn't added it yet or has set it to "Blocked."
Click "Connect," sign in with your PI account, and approve the connection. You will return to Claude, connected.
In a conversation, open the + menu, choose "Connectors," and turn on Predictive Index.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner has to add the connector first, and it won't appear if it's set to Blocked. On Enterprise, you may also need to be in a group that has access. Ask your Claude Owner to check.

First, make sure the URL is exactly https://mcp.predictiveindex.com/mcp. (You can fix the URL from the connector's "⋯" menu.)
If the URL is right, the authentication settings may be wrong. Those can't be edited, so remove the connector and add it again using the values in the What you'll need table above.
