Setting up PI's MCP connector

This article applies to client-side IT administrators and technical sponsors responsible for enabling PI's MCP connector during the current Pre Beta phase.

Once you've reviewed and achieved the prerequisites for enabling PI's MCP connector, you're ready to actually set up the MCP.

How to set up the PI MCP connector (host-agonistic)

Regardless of your AI host, deployment consists of the same 3 steps:

  1. Register the connector URL (https://mcp.predictiveindex.com/mcp) in your AI host, either as an individual, or as an admin publishing to the organization.

  2. Scope who gets it, either by group, role, or org-wide, using your host’s own access controls.

  3. Each user will sign in with their own PI account to leverage the MCP. This step cannot be skipped or completed on a user’s behalf; it is what scopes Obi to the data the user is already allowed to see in PI.

Specific MCP connector steps (host-specific)

The agonistic steps above are general steps meant to help guide you during the MCP connection process. For steps specific to your actual host (Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT), please see the following support articles:

Note: Menu labels and navigation flows vary by host and are subject to change over time. If a label in a support article does not match what you see within your specific host, please refer to our 3 host-agnostic steps for general guidance.
