Connecting Perform to Slack

This article applies to all users.

The Predictive Index’s integration with Slack allows you to receive Perform notifications, create new topics or action items, and create agendas all within Slack.

How to connect Perform to Slack

  1. Log in to Perform.
  2. Click “Settings” on the left-hand side.
  3. Select “Integrations” from the options.
  1. You’ll land on the integrations page (linked here).
  1. Scroll down until you see the Slack integration.
  2. Click on the “Connect” button.
  1. A tab will open prompting you to connect The Predictive Index with your Slack workspace.
  2. Confirm by clicking the “Allow” button.
  1. You will automatically be brought to the notifications page (linked here) within Perform. If the connection is successful, you will see a green banner at the top of your screen.

How to use Perform’s Slack integration

Within your Slack workspace:

  1. Type a forward slash (“/“) in any Slack channel or DM to bring up the command menu.
  2. Search for the Perform integration by typing “perform.”
  1. Select /perform from the available options.
  2. This will bring up our help text, including three commands to help you create discussion topics, action items, and meeting agendas without leaving Slack:
  • Type /perform new topic to create a new discussion topic.
  • Type /perform new action to create a new action item.
  • Type /perform agenda to create a new meeting agenda.

How to modify Slack notifications from Perform

Within Perform:

  1. Click “Settings” on the left-hand side.
  2. Select “Account Settings” or “Integrations” from the available options.
  1. Select the “Notifications” tab.
  1. You’ll land on the notifications page (linked here).
  1. Scroll down until you see a section titled “Slack Notifications.”
  1. Here, you can customize Slack notifications for any of the following Perform events:
  • When you’re assigned an action item
  • When an action item is past due
  • When an action item you assigned has been marked as completed
  • When there’s an upcoming meeting (based on our calendar integration)
  1. Any changes to your notification settings will be saved automatically.

Tip: You can even respond to a notification about an action item by marking the item as complete from within Slack.
