Creating your own Behavioral Target

Learn how to create a custom Behavioral Target in PI Hire, and directly choose the behavioral traits that determine success in the role.

This article applies to all Hire users in the PI2 platform.


PI Hire lets you build your own Behavioral Target for a role. This option is particularly helpful if you know exactly what behavioral traits a candidate needs to succeed.

Tip: Want to create a custom target based on multiple stakeholders? You can do so by making a collaborative target.

How to create a Behavioral Target

If you’re creating a new Job

  1. From the Hiring Center, select the Create New Job button.

  2. Enter the job title, then click Continue.

  3. On the left-hand side, select "Create a custom target" (if not already selected).

  4. Select "Create your own" from the options in the center of the screen.

  5. Proceed with "Next."

  6. You'll be prompted to choose between 6 and 14 characteristics that are critical to success in this job.

  7. Make your selections, then hit "Save & Continue."

  8. Your job will be created, and your custom Behavioral Target will populate based on your selections.

If you’re editing an existing Job

  1. Select a job from the Hiring Center.

  2. Select "Job Target" (if not already selected).

  3. On the left-hand side, select Create your own (if not already selected).

  4. You'll be prompted to choose between 6 and 14 characteristics that are critical to success in this job.

  5. Make your selections, then hit "Save and Continue."

  6. Your job will be updated with a custom Behavioral Target based on your selections.

Important: If you're creating a custom target from an existing job, you'll need to set the target as "active" before you can start to use it.

FAQs

Is it possible to revisit these characteristics after creating the target?

No. Once you've created the target, you will be unable to return to the characteristic-selection screen (also known as the Job Assessment).
