Once you've connected The Predictive Index to Greenhouse, you can start taking advantage of PI's behavioral and cognitive insights, right within your ATS platform.
In this article, we’ll walk through how to use PI’s Greenhouse integration as part of your existing hiring workflow.
Note: Need help setting up the integration? Follow these configuration steps.

How PI’s Greenhouse integration works
Our integration allows you to perform the following actions directly from Greenhouse:
Send PI assessments to candidates
Track assessment activity (e.g., completion status)
View high-level assessment results (e.g., Reference Profile, Fit Rating)
View/download candidate insight packages (includes the Behavioral Report, Job Fit data, and interview questions)
In other words, you can now send assessments to a candidate, review the results, and prepare for a structured behavioral interview, all without actually leaving Greenhouse.
Prerequisites before using the integration
Before using the integration, make sure you’ve taken the following steps:
Complete the configuration process. (Requires PI organization admin privileges)
Create a job in PI Hire that aligns with your job in Greenhouse.
Example: If you’re tracking applicants in Greenhouse for a BDR role, you should have a matching BDR role in PI.
Set an active Behavioral Target (and Cognitive Target, if applicable).
Note: If a Behavioral/Cognitive Target is not set, candidate scores will not be posted to Greenhouse.
Next, you’ll need to navigate to Greenhouse to tie the PI job to your Greenhouse requisition. (See next section.)
How to configure a PI job in Greenhouse
Back in Greenhouse:
Click into the relevant job position.
Select “Job Setup” on the left-hand side.
Click “See all” within the “Job Info” box.
Scroll down until you see the following 2 fields:
PI Assessment
PI Job
These fields are unique to The Predictive Index integration.
How the “PI Assessment” field works
The “PI Assessment” dropdown is where you will select which assessment you would like candidates to complete for this job. You can select the following options:
Behavioral Assessment Only
Cognitive Assessment Only
Both Behavioral and Cognitive Assessments.
Important: A Behavioral Target is required in PI Hire to receive Behavioral Assessment results in Greenhouse. Likewise, a Cognitive Target is required to receive Cognitive Assessment results. If the relevant target(s) isn’t set, the candidate’s results will not populate in Greenhouse.
How the “PI Job” field works
The “PI Job” dropdown displays all jobs that have been created in Hire after setting up the integration. (These jobs are sorted by date created, from most recent to least recent.)
Select the job that you created specifically for this requisition in Greenhouse, then click “Save.”
Note: If you do not see a matching job for this Greenhouse requisition, make sure you created the job after you configured the integration. If not, you will need to create the job again.
Triggering the Predictive Index integration
Once the Greenhouse job is configured, you can trigger the integration by moving a candidate to the stage of the interview process that includes PI.
Note: To proceed, you must first create a stage in Greenhouse titled “Send PI Assessments.” Here’s how to do so:
Select the relevant job in Greenhouse.
Click “Job Setup” on the left-hand side.
Click “Interview Plan” on the left-hand side.
Scroll down, then select the option titled “Add Stage.”
Under “Create New Stage,” enter “Send PI Assessments.”
Click “Add” to confirm.
Once you’ve created this stage, you can begin moving candidates to this stage within Greenhouse.
Upon moving a candidate to the “Send PI Assessments” stage, Greenhouse will automatically send their data to PI. The candidate will then be created in PI Hire, associated with the appropriate job, and sent invitations to complete the relevant assessment(s).
Back in Greenhouse, the “Activity” feed will populate with details about the candidate.
Once the candidate completes the Behavioral Assessment, the Greenhouse “Details” tab will populate with the following candidate information:
PI Reference Profile
PI Reference Profile Description
PI Candidate URL
PI Behavioral Fit Rating (Out of 5)
The “PI Candidate URL” takes the recruiter to the applicant’s “candidate page” in PI Hire.
Additionally, the “Candidate Insights” packet from PI is sent back to Greenhouse as a PDF, allowing the recruiter to view (or download) it from the “Application details” page.
Note: This resource will be labeled as a “Cover Letter” in the “Documents” section of the candidate’s application details. Greenhouse does not currently support the ability to rename document file names.
Restricting access to Cognitive Assessment data
PI sends Greenhouse the following data for Cognitive Assessment results:
PI Cognitive Assessment Score (ranges from 100 to 450)
PI Cognitive Assessment Fit Score (either strong fit, moderate fit, or cautionary fit)
PI Cognitive Assessment results are particularly sensitive pieces of data. Depending on the level of sensitivity your hiring team would like to treat cognitive results, you can configure Greenhouse to display these results in one of two ways:
In the “Details” tab (where Behavioral Assessment results are displayed)
In the “Private” tab (accessible only to certain Greenhouse users)
Note: By default, PI will send back cognitive results as “Private.”
Sending PI assessments to candidates in bulk
If a recruiter wants to move candidates into the “Send PI Assessments” stage in bulk, they can do so via Greenhouse bulk actions.
To perform bulk actions:
Select “Candidates” on the left-hand side.
Click “Bulk Actions” in the top-right corner.
Click the checkboxes next to the candidates you’d like to move forward.
Click the “Edit Selected” button in the top-right.
Click “Move to Another Stage.”
Select the “Send PI Assessments” stage.
Upon completing this action, the selected candidates will be created in PI Hire, associated with the appropriate job, and sent invitations to complete the relevant assessment(s).
FAQs
Does the job stage need to be named “Send PI Assessments” exactly?
Does the job stage need to be named “Send PI Assessments” exactly?
Ideally, yes. Our integration has logic that will detect any of the following names:
Send PI Assessment
Send PI Assessments
PI Send Assessment
PI Send Assessments
If your job stage does not follow the same naming conventions, Greenhouse might not successfully send data to PI (and vice versa).
I can’t find “X” PI job within Greenhouse. Why?
I can’t find “X” PI job within Greenhouse. Why?
Only PI jobs created after the Greenhouse integration was configured will populate in Greenhouse.
If you’ve successfully enabled the integration, but you do not see a particular job in the “PI Job” dropdown, we recommend creating a new PI job.
I can see a candidate’s Reference Profile in Greenhouse, but no additional data. Why?
I can see a candidate’s Reference Profile in Greenhouse, but no additional data. Why?
PI will always send back Reference Profile results to Greenhouse. However, if a candidate completes an assessment for a job without an active Behavioral Target, PI will not be able to calculate fit data, meaning we cannot send a fit rating or Candidate Insights Packet back to Greenhouse.
Likewise, if a candidate completes the PI Cognitive Assessment without an active Cognitive Target, PI will not send back their raw cognitive scores, as cog data should never be used without the context of a Cognitive Target.
