Connecting The Predictive Index to Greenhouse

Learn how to connect The Predictive Index to Greenhouse, so you can view PI behavioral and cognitive data right within Greenhouse.

Updated this week

This article applies to organization admins in the PI2 platform.

The Predictive Index’s integration with Greenhouse lets you seamlessly add PI assessment data to a candidate’s interview plan within Greenhouse.

Learn how to configure the Greenhouse integration in this article.

Note: PI's Greenhouse integration is a premium add-on. Learn more here.

Important: In addition to being an organization admin in PI2, you'll need to be a Greenhouse admin to accomplish the following steps. If you lack proper access to Greenhouse, we recommend reaching out to your HR or IT team.

How to configure PI’s Greenhouse integration

The configuration process consists of the following steps:

1. Create a new PI user account.

To integrate The Predictive Index with Greenhouse, you must first specify a PI account within your organization to be used for the configuration. This account must remain active for the integration to operate successfully.

Note: We strongly recommend you create a generic “PI Integrations” account that isn’t tied to a specific individual at your organization.

To create this account:

  1. Create a company email for this account (e.g., [email protected]).

  2. Store the email and password in a secure place accessible to any organization admin(s).

  3. Send a PI invitation to the email the same way you would invite any employee.

  4. Under the Product access section, make sure you make this account an organization admin.

  5. (Optional) If you intend on using the PI Cognitive Assessment with Greenhouse, also make this account a cognitive admin.

  6. Log in to the new email account and finish the PI account creation process.

  7. Once you’ve created a password for this PI account, you’re good to proceed. (Make sure you’re logged back into your normal PI account for the rest of this process.)

2. Initiate the configuration process.

Once you’ve created your dedicated integrations account, you’ll proceed to initiate the configuration process. This process begins on the PI side, but you'll be brought back-and-forth between PI and Greenhouse as needed.

To initiate the Greenhouse configuration:

  1. Log in to the PI software.

  2. Click the gear icon () in the top-right of the navigation bar.

  3. You’ll land on the People tab within the Administration page.

  4. Click the "Integrations" tab.

  5. Select "ATS Configuration" on the left-hand side.

  6. Click “Configure” within the Greenhouse box.

  7. You’ll land on the Greenhouse configuration page.

  8. Click the dropdown under the section “Step 1: Set PI's 'On Behalf Of' user account.”

  9. Find and select the PI account you just created.

  10. Click “Authorize Greenhouse” to confirm.

  11. You will be redirected to Greenhouse. Here, you will see a screen prompting you to authenticate the integration by logging into your Greenhouse account.

  12. Enter your Greenhouse admin credentials.

  13. Click "Log in to Greenhouse."

  14. Upon logging in, you will be prompted to authorize the PI account you previously configured to use your Greenhouse account.

  15. (Optional) If you'd prefer to have PI interface with a generic Greenhouse account (rather than your own), click the "Authorize using a service account" checkbox.

  16. Confirm by clicking "Authorize."

3. Set up custom fields.

Upon authorizing use of both a PI and a Greenhouse account, you will be redirected to the Greenhouse configuration page in the Predictive Index software. From here, you'll need to set up custom fields for the integration to populate in Greenhouse.

PI will handle this process for you. To initiate custom fields:

  1. Navigate to the Greenhouse configuration page (if not already there).

  2. Click "Setup."

  3. A pop-up titled "Set Up Custom Fields" will appear, explaining that the following custom fields will be created in Greenhouse:

    • PI Reference Profile

    • PI Reference Profile Description

    • PI Candidate URL

    • PI Behavioral Assessment Fit Rating (Out of 5)

    • PI Cognitive Assessment Score

    • PI Cognitive Assessment Fit Score

  4. (Optional) By default, the integration triggers upon a candidate changing stages. If you would prefer to trigger the integration upon submission of a candidate’s application, select the “Include New Application Webhook” checkbox.

  5. Click "Confirm."

The configuration will now be complete, and you can proceed to use the Greenhouse integration. Be sure to verify in Greenhouse that the above fields are populating correctly.

Note: This is a one-time configuration. If you are encountering issues, we do not recommend attempting to set up custom fields again. Instead, please submit a support ticket for assistance.
