Creating a candidate Relationship Guide

Learn how to create a Relationship Guide between a candidate and their potential teammates, so you can preview working relationships and create a smooth onboarding plan.

Updated today

This article applies to all Hire users in the PI2 platform.

Once you've used the Interview Builder and gathered some interviewer feedback, you'll likely have a shortlist of potential candidates who may excel in the role.

As you deliberate as a hiring team and work toward a final decision, it may be helpful to preview working relationships between a candidate and their potential teammates. Doing so can ensure a smoother onboarding process that takes into account not just the candidate, but the team they're about to join.

Use the candidate Relationship Guide tool to get a sense of where a new hire may compare or contrast with existing employees at your organization, so you can build strong relationships from day one.

Note: The candidate Relationship Guide tool requires an active subscription to both Hire and Inspire. (Inspire access is not required to use the tool.)

Important: The candidate Relationship Guide is not validated for use in hiring and should not be used to make candidate selection decisions.

Instead, make sure you're making hiring decisions based on the following data points (among others):

FAQs

General questions

Is the candidate Relationship Guide validated for use in hiring?

No. The candidate Relationship Guide is not validated for use in hiring and should not be used to make candidate selection decisions.

Instead, make sure you're making hiring decisions based on the following data points (among others):

Why use the candidate Relationship Guide, if not for hiring?

The candidate Relationship Guide is particularly useful for hiring managers who would like to plan ahead and "preview" what each candidate's working relationships would look like from day one at your organization.

For instance, you could run the candidate Relationship Guide between:

  • The candidate and their manager

  • The candidate and a potential mentor

  • The candidate and individual teammates

In the past, users would have to onboard the employee and then run the Relationship Guide in Inspire. With the addition of the candidate Relationship Guide, you can get a jump on relationship building from the moment you extend an offer letter (or even before).

What if I want to compare candidates to a top performing employee? Can I do so for hiring purposes?

Yes. However, instead of creating a Relationship Guide, you should instead model a Behavioral Target after this top performer.

Doing so lets you compare the candidate's behavioral results to a Job Target based on the top performer's data, which is validated for use in hiring.

I'd like to compare two employees. Where can I do that?

To create a Relationship Guide between two existing employees, create a guide in Inspire.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the candidate Relationship Guide as an available option. Why?

Verify the following:

  • Your organization is subscribed to both Hire and Inspire.

  • You've clicked on a specific candidate within Hire (as opposed to a job page).
