Modeling after a top performer

Learn how to create Behavioral Targets by modeling after a top performer in PI Hire, so you can optimize your recruiting and hire smarter.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article applies to all Hire users in the PI2 platform.

If you have an existing all-star employee in a role, you can model your Behavioral Target after that top performer.

How to model after a top performer

  1. Log in to the PI software.

  2. Select Hire from the top navigation bar.

  3. You'll land on the Hiring Center.

  4. Select the relevant job.

  5. Click "Model after a top performer" on the left-hand side.

The following steps depend on whether your top performer has existing Behavioral Assessment data in the system.

If they haven't taken the Behavioral Assessment:

  1. Enter the first name, last name, and email address of the employee whose Behavioral Pattern you want to use for this new benchmark.

  2. Select Send Assessment & Continue.

  3. The person you selected will receive an email with a link to take the PI Behavioral Assessment.

  4. As you await the results of this person's assessment, the "Job Target" page will show as pending completion.

  5. You will receive an email as soon as they’ve completed the assessment.

If they have taken the Behavioral Assessment:

  1. Search for their name or email.

  2. Select "Add & Continue."

  3. The person will be added to the Job Target as a top performer.

Note: You can only choose one top performer for a given job. This person can be an internal employee or an external party (e.g., a contractor).

How to enable top performer results

Before you're able to use top performer results as your Behavioral Target, you must first enable it.

Here's how to do so:

  1. Once you receive the email notifying you that your top performer has completed their BA, log back in to Hire.

  2. Return to the relevant job.

  3. Select the "Job Target" tab (if you haven't already landed there).

  4. Select "Top Performer" on the left-hand side.

  5. You will see a preview how your top performer will influence the Behavioral Target.

  6. (Optional) Click the "Show full descriptions" toggle to view these results in greater detail.

  7. (Optional) To make changes to this Behavioral Target, click the "Manually Override" button.

  8. Provided your satisfied with this target, click "Set as Active Target."

  9. A green checkmark will appear on the left-hand side, indicating your Top Performer target is set as active.

Note: You can use "Set as Active Target" to switch between different Behavioral Targets (a collaborative target, your top performer, etc.) at any time.

FAQs

Can I use a candidate's Behavioral Assessment results as a top-performer model?

No. The top performer option is intended for use with employee behavioral data only.

What if the top performer has previously taken the BA? Can they retrieve their results?

If your top performer has already completed the PI Behavioral Assessment, they can submit their Behavioral Score ID (BSID) instead of taking it again.

Is it possible to replace an existing top performer?

No. Is it not currently possible to switch out an existing top performer for another. That said, you can manually override the Behavioral Target at any time.

If you'd like to add a different top performer, we recommend creating a new job.
