This article applies to all users in the PI2 platform.
Use the global search function helps you find people and jobs that already exist in the PI system.
How PI global search works
PI's search function allows you to search for either people or jobs.
When searching for people, you can look for:
Candidates located in Hire
Employees located in Inspire
Likewise, searching for jobs allows you to quickly find jobs located in Hire.
Note: Global search does not currently support the ability to search for teams in Design, surveys in Diagnose, or workspaces in Perform.
By clicking on a person or job via search, you will be brought to the relevant page in either Hire (for jobs and candidates) or Inspire (for employees).
Important: If candidates or employees exist in your system but you aren't subscribed to Hire or Inspire, respectively, you can still search for those people. However, instead of bringing you to that person's page in Hire/Inspire, a side panel will open containing a readout of the person's Behavioral Assessment results. Learn more here.
How to search for people or jobs
Log in to the PI software.
Select the desired product dashboard (e.g., Hire).
Click on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner until a drop-down field appears, saying “Search for a person or job.”
Enter the person or job you’re looking for directly into the search field.
Select the desired option from the results that populate below.
Permission rules for PI’s search function
If you don’t see what or who you’re looking for, it may be due to your access level in a given PI product. Here are the basic rules governing search access and permissions:
All users can search for employees across all PI products.
Limited users in Hire can search for employees, plus jobs and candidates that have been shared with them.
Admins in Hire and organization admins can search for employees, candidates, and jobs without restriction.

I searched for an employee (or candidate), but clicking the name brought up a panel with their BA results. How do I find their actual page?
I searched for an employee (or candidate), but clicking the name brought up a panel with their BA results. How do I find their actual page?
If you select a person's name via global search and it opens a panel view of their BA results, it means their data is in the system but is likely uncategorized.
To troubleshoot, check your Transferred People page. If the person exists on this page:
Click the "more actions" button to the right of their information.
Move the person either to your employee directory or to your candidates list.
The next time you search for this person and select their name, you should land on the appropriate page (either in Hire for a candidate or in Inspire for an employee).

A person exists both as a "hired" candidate and as an employee. How does that show up in global search?
When a candidate is marked as "hired," a new employee record is created for them. While you can manually go back and view their candidate data in Hire, global search will default to their new employee record.
The next time you search and click on their name, you will be brought to their employee page in Inspire (provided your organization is subscribed to Inspire).
