Creating an open invitation link

Learn how to create open invitation (OI) links in PI Hire, customize settings, and streamline the candidate's assessment experience.

An open invitation (OI) link is a persistent URL that allows any candidate who accesses it to take the PI Behavioral Assessment and/or PI Cognitive Assessment.

Learn how to create and customize OI links in this article.

Why create an OI link?

OI links give you greater control over how you send PI assessments. By creating a link, you can then share it with candidates as part of your existing workflow, such as in a job posting or email.

These links can be modified, allowing hiring teams to further personalize the assessment-taking experience. For instance, you can create a vanity link for the URL, or choose a landing page to direct survey takers to upon completing the assessment.

How to generate an OI link

  1. Log in to PI Hire.

  2. Select the relevant job from the Hiring Center (or create a new job).

  3. Click the "Copy assessment link" button in the top-right corner.

  4. The open invitation link will be copied to your clipboard.

All set! Paste this link into a job posting or email thread, then direct candidates to it as part of your hiring process.

Note: By default, an open invitation link only allows candidates to complete the PI Behavioral Assessment. If you'd like these applicants to also complete the PI Cognitive Assessment, customize the link before sharing it with them.

Customizing an OI link

Every open invitation link can be modified from the job page. To do so:

  1. Click the "More actions" button in the top-right corner.

  2. Select "Edit link settings" from the available options.

  3. A panel will open titled "Edit assessment link settings."

Here, you'll see three different sections:

  • Autosend the Cognitive Assessment: Enable this setting if you’d like candidates to also complete the PI Cognitive Assessment.

  • Notification settings: Modify who is notified after a candidate completes the Behavioral Assessment.

  • Additional configurations: Modify additional aspects of the OI link, such as the URL itself.

Once saved, any modifications you make will automatically apply to the live link. (No need to re-copy and repost the link.)

How to enable Cognitive Assessment autosend

From the "Edit assessment link settings" page:

  1. Select the checkbox titled "Enable Cognitive Assessment autosend."

  2. Click "Save changes" to confirm.

How to modify notification settings

From the "Edit assessment link settings" page:

  1. Expand the section titled "Notification Settings."

  2. Modify the notification settings for the job owner and assessment taker.

  3. (Optional) Under "Add another recipient," enter the email address of anyone else who you'd like to receive notifications (e.g., a hiring manager).

  4. (Optional) If you’d like to remove a previously added recipient, click the trash can icon () to the right of their email address.

  5. Click "Save changes" to confirm.

How to modify additional configurations

From the "Edit assessment link settings" page:

  1. Expand the section titled "Additional configurations."

  2. (Optional) Modify your unique link URL.

  3. (Optional) Enable kiosk mode.

  4. (Optional) Enter a redirect URL. This will send the survey taker to the chosen URL upon completing the Behavioral Assessment.

    Note: You cannot add a redirect URL if kiosk mode is also enabled.

  5. Click "Save changes" to confirm.

General questions

Is it possible to edit an existing OI link?

Yes. To do so:

  1. Log in to PI Hire.

  2. Select the relevant job from the Hiring Center.

  3. Click the "More actions" button in the top-right corner.

  4. Select "Edit link settings" from the available options.

  5. The existing OI link settings associated with this job will appear.

  6. Modify any settings you’d like.

  7. Confirm by clicking “Save changes.”

Once saved, any modifications you make will automatically apply to the live link. (No need to re-copy and repost the link.)

I'd prefer to send assessments to candidates without creating an OI link. How?

You can send assessments to candidates right within PI Hire. To do so, refer to the following articles:

The "Cognitive Assessment autosend" option is greyed out. Why?

You must have cognitive access to send the PI Cognitive Assessment. To gain access, reach out to a cognitive admin.

I don't see a "Copy assessment link" button. Why?

If you don't see a "Copy assessment link" button at the top of the page, it means you haven't added any candidates to this job.

To access the assessment link:

  1. Click the "Candidates" tab within the job.

  2. Select "Copy assessment link" in the middle of the page.

  3. ​Once you have at least one candidate associated with this job, you will see the "Copy assessment link" button at the top of the job page.

Assessment notifications

I'm not getting notifications from my OI link. Why?

There are two possible reasons why you might not be receiving notifications:

  1. Your OI link notifications are set to "none."

  2. You're not currently added as a notification recipient.

To troubleshoot either issue, follow the instructions for "How to modify notification settings" from the Customizing an OI link section of this article.

Is it possible to auto-send the Behavioral Report to "X" person? How?

Yes. To do so:

  1. Expand the "Notification Settings" panel within your OI link.

  2. Select the "Completion email + Behavioral Report" notification for the desired recipient(s).

  3. (Optional) Add additional recipients.

  4. Click "Save changes" to confirm.

Upgrade support

I have existing invitation links from the legacy PI software. How do I view them?

To view existing invitation links from the legacy experience:

  1. Log in to PI Hire.

  2. Select the Candidates tab from the Hiring Center.

  3. Click “Imported invitation links” on the right-hand side.​

  4. A panel will open titled “Imported candidate invitation links.”

  5. Click the name of an invitation link.

  6. The details of this invitation link (including the URL itself) will appear.

​​Note: Imported invitation links cannot be modified. Instead, we recommend you create a new OI link for the relevant job and then customize that link.

Can I access employee links from the legacy experience?

Only legacy candidate links are available in the new PI experience. Any employee or “other” links have been sunsetted and will no longer be accessible.
