Updated over 2 weeks ago

Once you've set a Behavioral Target, see how well a candidate fits that target by having them complete the PI Behavioral Assessment.

How to send the PI Behavioral Assessment to candidates

There are two ways to send behavioral assessments to candidates. You can either send them via PI, or you can send them yourself:

Sending assessments via PI

  1. Log in to PI Hire.

  2. From the Hiring Center, select either a Job you've created or a Job for which you have Edit access.

  3. Select the Candidates tab (if not already selected).

  4. Click the "Add Candidates" button.

  5. A panel titled "Add candidates" will open.

  6. Enter the first name, last name, and email address of the candidate to whom you're sending the assessment.

  7. Click "Next."

  8. You will be asked which assessments you'd like to send.

  9. Select "PI Behavioral Assessment."

  10. (Optional) Select whether to send the candidate a copy of their Behavioral Report.

  11. (Optional) Select "PI Cognitive Assessment."

  12. Click "Send Assessment" to confirm.

Note: If you do not see an option to send the PI Cognitive Assessment, this likely means you do not have cognitive access. To gain cognitive access, reach out to a cognitive admin.

Sending assessments yourself

  1. Log in to PI Hire.

  2. From the Hiring Center, select either a Job you've created or a Job for which you have Edit access.

  3. Select the Candidates tab (if not already selected).

  4. Click the "Copy assessment link" button in the top-right corner. An open invitation link to take the assessment(s) will copy to your clipboard.

  5. Write an email via your preferred email client and post the link in the email body.

Preparing candidates for the behavioral assessment

The PI Behavioral Assessment is a powerful way to assess a candidate's job fit---but only when administered properly.

Candidates may be nervous or anxious about taking the assessment. They may have concerns about how the results will be interpreted or used. Or, they may believe they must "pass" the assessment based on the answers they think your hiring team is looking for.

To get the best possible data from the BA, it's important to set the right expectations with your candidates. When sending them the assessment, tell them:

  • Be yourself. There are no right or wrong answers; it’s not a test.

  • Take the assessment in your preferred language (if possible).

  • Read the instructions carefully, and use your own judgment to answer questions. If you do not understand a particular word, skip it.

  • The assessment requires your full concentration, so limit or remove any possible distractions.

  • Time is not a factor; take as much time as you need.

Note: If a candidate has already taken the PI Behavioral Assessment at another organization, they can retrieve their results using their Behavioral Score ID.

FAQs

I do not see an option to send the PI Cognitive Assessment. Why?

This likely means you do not have cognitive access. To gain cognitive access, reach out to a cognitive admin.

Can I adjust who receives the “BA completion” email?

By default, the person who owns the job will be the one notified when a candidate completes the PI Behavioral Assessment.

You can customize who receives what BA notifications by creating an assessment link for that job.

Is there a way to send the PI Behavioral Assessment by link?

Yes. To do so, find the candidate assessment link for the relevant job, modify the settings to your liking, then copy and share the link directly with candidates.

Is it possible to send the Behavioral Assessment to a candidate without opening/clicking into the job?

Yes. Once you've created a job, you can send the Behavioral Assessment to candidates for that job right from the Hiring Center.

To do so:

  1. Log in to PI Hire.

  2. From the Hiring Center, search for the job you've created.

  3. Click the "Add candidates" button on the right-hand side.

  4. The "Add candidates" panel will open.

  5. Proceed to send the assessment (as outlined above).

Is it possible to send the Behavioral Assessment to a candidate without actually creating a job?

At PI, we believe strongly in fair and responsible assessment use. To reduce bias and ensure a consistent candidate experience, it is crucial that all behavioral (and cognitive) results are assessed relative to a Job Target.

While creating a job and setting a target takes time, they are necessary steps to use PI's assessments accurately and responsibly.

We recognize that your time is valuable. If you'd like to send assessments first and then build your Job Target, please follow the instructions in the next FAQ question. We hope this allows some flexibility when creating your target.

I'm not sure what Job Target I'd like to build. Can I revisit it later, so I can first send out some assessments?

Yes, you have the option to skip the Job Target process.

To do so:

  1. Enter the job title, then continue.

  2. Click the "Skip for now" text in the bottom-left of the screen.

  3. Confirm by clicking "Skip for now."

  4. You will be prompted to send assessments to candidates. (You can revisit the Job Target process at any time by clicking the "Job Target" tab.)

Note: Although you can send assessments without a Job Target, you must create a target to access full candidate insights, including cognitive results and job fit.

You also must set a target to leverage features such as the Interview Builder.
