Want to create a Behavioral Target or Cognitive Target based on input from multiple stakeholders? You can do so by creating a collaborative target.

This process consists of several steps:

  1. Create the collaborative target
  2. Wait for stakeholder input
  3. (Optional) Share your own input
  4. Manage behavioral inputs
  5. (Optional) Manage cognitive inputs
  6. Proceed with candidate evaluation

Let’s walk through each step in detail.

1. Create the collaborative target

If you’re creating a new Job

  1. From the Hiring Center, select the “Create New Job” button.
  1. Enter the job title, then click “Continue.”
  2. On the left-hand side, select “Create a custom target.”
  3. Choose “Create a collaborative target,” then click “Next.”
  1. Enter the email addresses of the stakeholders you’d like to include.
  2. (Optional) Select whether to include yourself as a contributor.
  3. Click “Send invites & continue.”
  1. Your Job will be created. Invites will be sent out asking stakeholders to provide input about the Job.

If you’re editing an existing Job

  1. Select a Job from the Hiring Center.
  2. On the left-hand side, select “Create a custom target.”
  3. Choose “Create a collaborative target,” then click “Next.”
  4. Enter the email addresses of the stakeholders you’d like to include.
  5. (Optional) Select whether to include yourself as a contributor.
  6. Click “Send invites & continue.”
  7. Invites will be sent out asking stakeholders to provide input about the Job.

2. Wait for stakeholder input

After you send invites to stakeholders, you’ll be brought to the Job Target tab for this Job. As you wait for input, you’ll see the words “Pending contributor input” over each factor on the job target.

If you’d like to add/remove contributors or resend any invites, you can do so at the bottom of this page.

Feel free to use this time to send assessments to candidates or share your own input for the Job (covered in the next section).

3. (Optional) Share your own input

If you chose to include yourself as a contributor in the previous section, you’ll want to take time to submit your feedback.

To do so:

  1. Check your inbox for an email from noreply@mailer.predictiveindex.com. (The subject line will say: “Please provide your input for the [job title] role”)
  2. Open the email and click “Provide Input.” (A browser window will open.)
  3. Enter your name and your relationship to the job. Then hit “Start.”
  1. (Behavioral requirements) Choose between six and 14 characteristics that are critical to success in this job. Then hit “Next.”
  2. (Cognitive requirements) For each cognitive item, select the minimum level of skill required for the role. Then hit “Submit.”
  3. You’ll see a confirmation message saying your input has been received.

4. Manage behavioral inputs

Once at least one stakeholder has provided input, you’ll be able to view and manage their feedback.

To view behavioral inputs:

  1. Select the Job from the Hiring Center.
  2. On the left-hand side, select “Collaborative Target.”
  3. You’ll land on the Job Target screen.

Then, to manage behavioral inputs:

  1. Select (or deselect) the contributors whose input you wish to include (or exclude).
  2. The Behavioral Target will automatically adjust based on the selected inputs.
  3. (Optional) Drag the slider(s) for any factor(s) you wish to fine-tune.
  4. Once comfortable with the Behavioral Target, click “Save changes” to confirm.

5. (Optional) Manage cognitive inputs

If you have cognitive access, you will also be able to view and manage available cognitive inputs.

To view cognitive inputs:

  1. Select the Job from the Hiring Center.
  2. On the left-hand side, select “Cognitive Target.”

Then, to manage cognitive inputs:

  1. Select (or deselect) the contributors whose input you wish to include (or exclude).
  2. The Cognitive Target will automatically adjust based on the selected inputs.
  3. (Optional) Drag the Cognitive Target if you wish to fine-tune it.
  4. Once comfortable with the Cognitive Target, click “Save changes” to confirm.

6. Proceed with candidate evaluation

Once your Job Target is set, you will be able to proceed with the Job Ad Optimizer and Interview Builder tools as usual.

FAQs

Is there a maximum number of contributors I can include?
You can include up to 5 contributors on the collaborative target (6 if you include yourself).
How is the collaborative Behavioral Target calculated?
The collaborative Behavioral Target displays the average of any currently selected behavioral inputs.

If you select (or deselect) any contributors, the Behavioral Target will readjust to display the new average.
How is the collaborative Cognitive Target calculated?
The collaborative Cognitive Target displays the average of any currently selected cognitive inputs.

If you select (or deselect) any contributors, the Cognitive Target will readjust to display the new average.
Can I make changes to the Collaborative Target after saving inputs? How?
Yes, you can make additional changes to the Collaborative Target at any time.

To do so:

1. Select the “Collaborative Target” (to adjust the Behavioral Target) or “Cognitive Target” (to adjust the Cognitive Target) on the left-hand side.

2. Click the button titled “Manage Inputs.”

3. (Optional) Select/deselect any contributor inputs.

4. (Optional) Use the sliders to adjust the target as needed.

5. Confirm with “Save changes.”

If I adjust the slider to a specific position, then check contributors on/off, what happens?
Anytime a contributor is selected or deselected, we’ll recalculate the collaborative target. Any manual changes you might have made beforehand will be overridden.

For this reason, we recommend you select inputs first before adjusting the actual target.
Why can’t I view cognitive inputs in the software?
You need cognitive access to view cognitive data. To gain access, reach out to a cognitive admin.
What happens if a candidate completes the assessment(s) before the Job Target is set?
It’s possible to receive a candidate’s Behavioral and/or Cognitive Assessment results before you complete the Collaborative Target.

If you do, you’ll see the candidate’s Reference Profile on the Candidates tab, plus the word “Completed” under Behavioral Fit and/or Cognitive Fit.

However, to view that person’s full candidate insights, you’ll need to set your Job Target by confirming your behavioral (and cognitive, if applicable) inputs.

Still waiting to hear from certain stakeholders? Don’t worry—you can always update your inputs later.
